Driving techniques

This section takes the theory illustrated in our Car Control section and applies it to real situations. We cover techniques from track driving to handbrake turns.

If you have a performance car and want to see what it can do, you'll have to use a track. Book a track day or driving experience with a racing instructor and you'll be amazed how quickly you improve. The most important skills to have for track driving are car control, smoothness and experience. Find someone who knows the track well and let them talk you through the corners. You'll never be fast on the first laps, so build up to a good speed over time, reducing braking distances and increasing the speed accordingly.

The techniques listed in the menu below will explain some of the principles of advanced driving, but again the key here is practice in a safe environment.
